As manufacturing becomes more digital, the role of IT has expanded from simple troubleshooting to a mission-critical part of daily production. Today, IT supports everything from real-time data analytics to machine connectivity, cybersecurity, and automated workflows, allowing our engineering and manufacturing teams to perform at their best.

When asked how IT helps engineering and manufacturing, our IT Manager, Krishna Konduru, stated: "With real time data, analytics, networking and proper security, IT helps manufacturing teams daily making their lives and work more safer, efficient and sustainable."

One of the most important ways IT supports SK’s manufacturing team is by implementing and managing the systems our operations rely on. This includes our Manufacturing Execution System , Arcops, which helps the team monitor jobs in real time, and our ERP system, Arcsource, which centralizes proposals, KPIs, project management, shipping, and quality data.

These tools give our team a unified, data-driven view of production and allowing them to make informed decisions and keep workflows moving smoothly

Technology only works when people know how to use it, which is why IT plays a hands-on r ole in training employees on new systems and software. Beyond training, real-time dashboards are created to support estimators and plant managers by visualizing labor hours, machine performance, and job progress. These insights make it easier to identify bottlenecks early and optimize processes before delays occur.

Much of the work that keeps a manufacturing facility operating efficiently happens behind the scenes. Daily IT responsibilities include:

• Installing hardware across the facility
• Connecting CNC machines to the network
• Assigning IP addresses and configuring FTP servers
• Setting up CAD software and server environments
• Troubleshooting both complex issues and day-to-day questions - whether it’s fixing a critical connection or helping someone locate their Excel icon

These tasks make sure operators can easily load programs, engineers can access the tools they need, and everyone on the floor can focus on doing their job without interruptions.
